How to play Borders
- Objective: Build your own continent on an empty ocean by placing the 12 available country tiles onto the hexagonal grid, matching the exact number of borders required by each nation.
- How to play: Click on a country tile from the bottom tray and then select the blue hexagonal tile where you want to place it, or vice versa. Each country displays a number (from 0 to 6) representing the exact number of occupied neighboring tiles it must have around it to be complete. If the number of borders is lower than required, the tile will appear gray. If higher, it will appear red. If it has the exact number of borders, it will turn green. Once the entire territory is placed and all borders are balanced, click the "Finish" button if you are satisfied with your score. You can remove placed tiles (click on them) or replace them with others at any time before ending the game.
- Scoring: Each placed country tile awards 10 points, multiplied by each border up to that country's maximum possible. In addition, if two adjacent countries on your board share a real-world land border, a multiplier will be applied to those tiles. For example, x2 for one real border, x4 for two real borders, x8 for three... up to a maximum of x64, drastically boosting your final score. Real borders will be highlighted on the board. To simplify gameplay, countries with more than 6 real-life borders have been capped at a maximum of 6.
- Strategy: Start by placing tiles with extreme values (countries with 0 borders that must stand alone as islands, or those with 6 that require the center). Once the mathematical structure of the board is secured, try grouping real-world neighboring countries together to trigger multipliers and achieve the day's highest score.
